How to start personal training at UIC

Step 1: Paperwork and Availability

The forms required are available on our website on the personal training page or in person at our UIC Human Performance Lab.  Submitted forms must be reviewed before an appointment for assessment is made. Once time with a trainer is reserved, you will be called by our staff to schedule your assessment. Forms and questions can be emailed to golver2@uic.edu

Step 2: Complete your General Fitness Assessment

Appointments must be made at least a day before depending on availability of the lab technicians. Appointments last approximately 1 hour. During your fitness assessment we establish a base line of where you are starting from, what you can do, what you have to work with, and what you want to accomplish. This assessment is REQURIED for personal training and has an additional cost.

Step 3: Meet with your personal trainer for a fitness consultation

At a separate appointment time you will sit down with your personal trainer and discuss in detail what your results from your General Fitness Assessment mean to you and how they will influence your exercise program.

Step 4: The Training Phase

Based on your General Fitness Assessment and fitness consultation, your personal trainer will create and implement and exercise program. We offer 1 on 1 training, express training, and semi-private training.
