Student Recreation Facility 3rd Floor Renovation
Start seeing changes May 12
We’re excited to share that the long-anticipated renovation of our fitness floor is underway! This project includes the installation of a new rubberized surface in the free weight area—designed to better support your workouts and enhance the overall experience. New equipment will also follow in a future phase.
While the space will remain partially open, some equipment will be temporarily unavailable or relocated throughout the facility. One of the Olympic Platforms is currently open but may close at intermittent times throughout this project.
What to expect:
- Equipment Locations:Most equipment has been relocated to the hallway leading to the Racquetball/Squash Courts and Functional Training Room from the track. One Squash court will be offline for the duration of the project.
- Weight Restrictions:Dumbbells and plates will be limited to 30 pounds during this time in order to minimize the possibility of further floor damage from dropping weights.
- Need Help?:Please ask our staff for assistance in locating any moved equipment!
- Project Oversight: This project is coordinated and under the direction of Peter Drezek, PMP – Assistant Director for Project Management – Architecture.
Stay Updated:
We encourage all members to return here for the latest daily updates on the renovation and equipment availability. Major updates will also be communicated via email.
Alternate Facility Access:
As a reminder, all members have access to the Sport & Fitness Center (828 S. Wolcott) during the renovation. This is a great option if you need:
- Progressive weights over 30 pounds
- Machines that may be temporarily unavailable at SRF
We anticipate completing the project by late June, and we appreciate your flexibility and patience as we work to bring you an improved fitness space.
Thank you for your support!
