Dependent Memberships
Introduction
Qualifying individuals may purchase memberships for their dependents - spouse/domestic partner, child, or adult dependent (18-26 years). Please reference the Membership pages to view your available options.
Dependent Memberships
Spouse/Domestic Partner
A spouse or domestic partner is eligible to purchase a membership at the qualifying individual’s membership rate, with the exception of a UIC student. Qualifying individuals must be present with their spouse or domestic partner to purchase the membership. In addition to the required documentation, spouse/domestic partners must also present a valid, government issued photo ID to apply for membership.
Required documentation
One (1) of the following
- Marriage License
- Civil Union Certificate
Or Three (3) of the following items
- Driver’s License with the same address
- Joint checking account
- Proof of Assignment to Beneficiary Rights
- Proof of joint ownership of a residence or motor vehicle
- Mutual designation on a will
- Irrevocable living trust
- Durable property and health care powers of attorney.
Please understand that any false or misleading statements made in order to receive benefits for which you are not qualified may subject the partner affiliated with the University of Illinois to disciplinary action. Other members may have their privilege revoked with no refund.
Adult Dependent
Certain membership types may be eligible to sponsor an adult dependent for a membership. Adult dependents are eligible for the membership from age 18 through the age of 26. Individuals will no longer qualify for the membership type after their 27th birthday. Qualifying individuals must be present with the adult dependent to purchase the membership. In addition to the required documentation, adult dependents must also present a valid, government issued photo ID to apply for the membership. Summer Adult Dependent memberships are intended for use by a college student home for the summer.

Child
Members may also purchase a membership for their child. Please note that children 17 years and younger must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian at all times and are not allowed on the Fitness Floor. Please see Age Policies for more information.
