Climbing Wall
- The climbing wall is open only during posted, supervised times. The hangboard mounted by the climbing wall is available for use during normal facility hours.
- All climbers must sign an Acceptance of Risk, Waiver and Release form which will be kept on file. All new climbers will need to complete an orientation with a staff member in addition to the waiver.
- Experienced climbers must be certified by the climbing wall staff to belay without an attendant’s assistance. If a belay test is failed, the climber needs to wait at least one day before re-testing.
- Only assisted braking belay devices are to be utilized on the climbing wall unless an instructional class requires other belay devices.
Climbing Classes
- Refunds will not be offered once a class begins. After the class begins, refunds are only issued if the service is canceled or for a doctor documented illness or injury.
E-Sports
Room Policies
- No personal belongings allowed in The Gauntlet (backpacks, auxiliary equipment, etc.)
- All gaming equipment must remain in The Gauntlet at all times.
- No food or drink of any kind is permitted in The Gauntlet.
- Gaming devices should not be used for personal use unrelated to gaming. Homework, class projects, etc. are not permitted and will result in loss of play slot.
- Individuals may not install any games that are not on our list of available games.
Check-In Policies
- All participants must check in with the Esports Attendant prior to utilizing any devices.
- Valid UIC iCard required to check in.
- Each individual must use their own UIC credentials to log into the network for PC gaming. For console gaming, users are not allowed to download their own console profiles.
- Individual gaming sessions are 2 hours maximum, unless there are no other users waiting for a device.
- If The Gauntlet is at full capacity, individuals on the waitlist are not allowed to congregate in the space as we are not currently allowing spectators. Those individuals on the waitlist are welcome to wait in the lounge just outside the room until a station is available for them.
FitWell Center
- Services need to be purchased at the time the appointment is scheduled.
- A client that is late forfeits the time lost and is responsible for the full cost of the scheduled test. Appointments must be cancelled by 5pm the day prior. For weekend and Monday appointments, the appointment needs to be canceled by Friday at 5pm. Failure to cancel or reschedule will result in loss of the fee for the service.
- All sessions purchased are nonrefundable and non-transferrable and expire within one year of purchase date.
- Packages cannot be altered or shared.
- Refunds are only issued if the service is canceled or for a doctor documented illness or injury.
Become a Personal Trainer Course
- Refunds will not be offered once a course begins.
Group Fitness
- For your safety, Recreation and Wellbeing requires participants to arrive to class on time to hear all expectations and to participate in warm-up. Failure to arrive on time will result in being turned away from the class.
- Registration for a Free Fitness Class or F45 Class does not guarantee a spot. If you are registered for the class and do not arrive on time, your spot is available to anyone on the waitlist.
Premium Fitness
- Program registration is not pro-rated.

Intramural Sports
Intramural Sports Participant Manual
Asserted Gender Intramural Policy
Individuals shall be permitted to participate in Intramural Sports events in accordance with that person’s asserted gender identity.
What does this mean in practice?
- Showing up to play for a men’s, women’s, or coed Intramural Sport team is all you have to do to establish your gender identity and play in that division.
- No questions will be asked, no proof is required, If you can play, you can play!

Outdoor Trips
- Refunds will not be offered after the pre-trip meeting has occurred. After the pre-trip meeting, refunds are only issued if the service is canceled or for a doctor documented illness or injury.
Gear Rental
Reservations
- Reservations MUST be made 48 hours in advance. A rental attendant will respond within 48 hours to work with you on your request.
- Reservations are tentative until payment is received, all fees will be assessed prior to renting out gear. An active credit card must be kept on file for the duration of your rental.
- Gear may be requested up to 4 weeks prior to the beginning of the reservation period.
- A limit of 1 tent, 2 backpacks, and 4 sleeping bags/pads may be rented per person.
- Reservations may be made for a maximum of 14 nights for students and 7 nights for members.
Cancellation
- A cancelation must be made in writing 48 hours in advance for a full refund. Requests made within 48 hours of the reservation will receive a refund for 50% of the full rate.
- Equipment must be picked up by the person making the rental request with a valid UIC or government-issued ID.
- No refunds will be given for gear that is not picked up.
Check-out
- First-time renters must go through a gear orientation and demonstrate proper use of gear. Allow half hour for gear check out and orientation.
- Renter and staff must sign off on the gear inspection sheet prior to and after renting gear.
- Renters must complete and sign the Gear Rental Check Out form.
Return
- All rentals must be returned to the Outdoor Resources office in the Student Recreation Facility during designated rental hours. Equipment will not be accepted at the membership desk at the Student Recreation Facility.
- Rentals are subject to additional fees upon completion of return inspection (damaged, excessively dirty, wet gear, etc.).
- Equipment returned late is charged at x1.5 the daily rate for every day the equipment is late.
- Renter and staff must sign off on the gear inspection sheet prior to and after renting gear. All items will be inspected by the rental office staff prior to checking in gear.
Returning Tents
- All tents must be returned clean, dry, and complete.
- Upon return of tents, the renter must set up each tent completely for damage assessment. Allow half hour for each tent to be inspected to ensure tents are in acceptable condition. Tents must be folded/rolled and re-packed by the renter.
Lost/Damaged/Stolen equipment
- Lost equipment will be charged at the current replacement cost for the piece of equipment.
- For items returned excessively dirty or wet, a cleaning fee of $10 for equipment valued at less than $100 and a $15 fee for equipment valued at more than $100 will be assessed.

Safety Classes

Swim Lessons
- All lessons purchased are nonrefundable and non-transferrable and expire within one year of purchase date.
- Packages cannot be altered or shared.
- Parents must stay in the aqua suite during class. For Parent Tot lessons, only one parent or caregiver may accompany each child in the water.
