Tired of diets that don’t work? Find out how many calories your body burns in a day! RMR testing will assess your unique metabolism and find the rate at which you burn calories.  This test takes about 90 minutes to complete.

After the test, you will know exactly how many calories you need to eat every day to gain, lose, or maintain your weight. You’ll leave with a weekly plan of how many calories to eat, and how many calories to burn through exercise.

One important step in your fitness and personal training journey is a fitness assessment administered by the FitWell Center staff. The entire assessment consists of:

  • Bioelectrical Impedance Analyzer (body composition)
  • Jog/Walk Test (aerobic capacity)
  • Curl-ups, push-ups, handgrip, and leg press (muscular strength and endurance)
  • Sit and reach (flexibility)

Please note the following items prior to testing:

Clothing: Comfortable athletic clothes and appropriate footwear are recommended.  Women are encouraged to wear a sports bra.

Stimulants: Please refrain from the use of coffee, tea, cola, and tobacco use for 4 hours prior to the test. One cigarette may increase your heart rate up to 25 bpm for one hour.

Exercise: Previous exercise may cause muscle soreness or  fatigue during your exercise test. For this reason, refrain from exercise the day of your test.

Drugs: Please inform the testing staff of any prescription or non-prescription drugs that you have taken up to 48 hours prior to testing.

Please consider the above instructions and allow at least 1 hour for the fitness assessment. If for any reason you are unable to arrive for your scheduled time, please contact the FitWell Center at (312) 413-5174.

Most people know that cardiovascular exercise is important, but knowing how intense a workout should be is different for each individual and is dependent on goals and current fitness level.

Lactate Tests help determine the correct training intensity to increase power and endurance.  Knowing the corresponding lactate values at a given heart rate range allows you to adjust your training to meet specific goals.  Train smarter, not harder.
